RMI Education and Skills Strengthening Project

Women and Youth Training for
Gender Equality, Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction and Water Safety Management has recently taken place at the University of the South Pacific's school in Majuro, the Republic of the Marshall Islands(RMI ). The week-long capacity-building training intended to empower ladies and youth with the knowledge and practices needed for climate-resilient water safety management in the
Republic of the Marshall Islands(RMI ). This training enhances a dedication to enhancing RMI's water security and community resilience against climate change effects, especially ladies

of the Marshall Islands to focus on technical and employment education training reforms. In 2000, ADB approved a loan for $9.1 million to improve abilities training to provide trained workers required for sustained economic and social development. This was to be achieved through an integrated nationwide abilities training system. The job consisted of 4 parts: development of a profession awareness program, skills training enhancement, improved skills training chances for ladies and youth, and institutional conditioning. The expected result was increased income-generating chances and work for students, particularly women and youth in the external islands. Overall, the project was ranked not successful. Limited development was achieved in making the task responsive to the requirements of its beneficiaries and private-sector companies. The enduring weak point of poor numeracy and literacy proficiencies
amongst public elementary and secondary school graduates and dropouts going into college or attending voc-tech education could be partially credited to the poor quality of basic education. The project was supply-driven and could not develop a strong linkage with private sector requirements or align its activities with the requirements of the labour market. The status of the technical and employment education training system has stayed fundamentally the same after project completion.
